Have you ever lived in a house which ages at 50 years old or even older?  Therefore, it has possibility that the walls of this old house have already plasters. Plasters walls are so popular way back in the late 18th century and 19th century.  In 18th and 19th centuries, the plasters were readily available and said to be workable which produces smooth walls and decorative infrastructures.  Despite the fact that the plaster walls are not that widely used in this age however it is still available in the market.  At this generation, people are used to using joint compounds since it is easier to work with compared than the plaster walls.

The joint compound might be slow to set up and harden but it is easy to sand and can be mixed easily.  Additionally, you can already buy a joint compound that is already mixed an dis easy to clean up.  After the joint compound has been applied on the wall, the water then leaves by evaporation and the hard white stuff is left. On the other hand, though the plaster sets up quickly and hardens like a cement but it will be difficult to work with and clean up once it has been set up and hardened.  The plaster quickly sets up because there is a chemical reaction happening between the plaster and water.  Hence, the joint compound is widely used than the plaster of this age. Notwithstanding the hitting truth that plaster still remains the superior product. This is mainly because it is hard thus cannot be easily damaged or scratched. Below are the few tips you can overcome the challenges with plaster.  You must have known that every plaster differs from the plaster thus you should be carefully in working with it. Here is what you need to know about these products.

When you wanted to hang a picture from a hook having a nail on it, then you must first put and tape a long piece of masking tape on the area where you will drive the nail. This is done to avoid chipping out of the walls.  Removal of the tape can be done once the nail ahs already been driven into the wall. Now, to drive a screw through plaster you must drill a pilot hole. You can see more plasters by clicking here.

Another thing that you must do is not use a drywall screw in plasters.  Third thing to remember is to avoid screwing into the wood since it holds the plaster on the wall rather you must do it into the wall studs itself.  If you are looking for plasters and you wanted to know more about them you can view here for more information.
